For certain satellite operators, the benefits of a dedicated launch outweigh the allure of cheaper rideshare options. These "boutique" services offer precise orbital insertion and highly flexible scheduling, critical for missions with specific requirements.

Companies deploying sensitive national security payloads, experimental technologies, or those with very specific orbital requirements often prioritize control and timing over the lowest possible price point. The ability to dictate launch windows and orbital parameters becomes a strategic advantage.

Consider a small satellite, perhaps weighing a few hundred kilograms, needing to reach a unique polar orbit on short notice. A dedicated launch vehicle, costing perhaps $30 million to $50 million, offers this precision and agility, avoiding the compromises inherent in a larger, multi-payload mission where orbital destinations are pooled.
